We are pleased to host the Workshop on Ion Beams in Biology and Medicine as it comes to the US for the first time. An exciting program is in the works, featuring invited orals and posters about current and proposed developments relevant to ion beam therapy, with particular emphasis on bringing ion therapy to the US. Sessions will highlight:

- Radiation-cell interaction with emphasis on recent developments.
- Recent developments in beam acceleration and delivery. (New compact accelerators and compact gantry design).
- Medical aspects of operating facilities. (Recent experience and new developments in treatment planning).
- Planned facilities (either already under construction or envisioned).
- Vendor presentations of today's products and tomorrow's.
